How do I begin?

Things to consider: Size, where will it hang? Your budget. Will it be a gift or for yourself? What are you looking for, what artistic style do you like?

Meet the artist

It's important to develop a relationship with your artist. I like to spend some time with my client and encourage as much dialogue and expression as they are comfortable with, so I can glean your hopes and desires.

Contracts
I have found it beneficial to spell out expectations and deadlines in a contract. This way both parties lay out their needs. I require a 50% nonrefundable deposit for each commission and have a deadline for completion. For my larger commissions I not only email progressing digital photographs, but schedule a viewing after the midway point. Typically it is difficult for people to imagine where you are going in the initial phases of the commissioned art.

Completion

It's important to closely inspect the art once completed. But I stand behind my work and my goal is always the satisfaction of the buyer. I want you to be happy with your art and the experience.

How long does it take?

Oil paint requires drying times. The first base layer needs to dry for several weeks in dry weather. If it is humid it can take longer. I schedule 3-4 months depending on the commissioned piece, size and content both factor in.
