"The easy listening sounds of Brenda Simon are very refreshing and relaxing, to say the least. I've been anxiously awaiting this CD for a while and was not disappointed by its beauty. The music has that certain way of relaxing your soul and carrying you away. Brenda's vocals are magical and lure your thoughts away on her musical journey. Great music has a way of capturing your every thought and feeling and pulling the listener into the moment. That is what this music did for me. The songwriting is very inspiring and the music is beautifully arranged. Not only does Brenda Simon have the ability to create a wonderful atmosphere with her music, but the songs on this CD are something that many music fans will cherish. Brenda definitely proves that her music is The Genuine Thing." “Fire In The Country (There’s Always Hope)” was released in 1997. It is a combination of adult-contemporary and country/pop/rock. Throughout her home state, Michigan, the CD received considerable airplay and in the summer Brenda gave a string of on air radio interviews. Brenda is also a member of ASCAP. Brenda performs as part of the duo “Simon & Simon” with producer/arranger, Doug Simon. Their stage performances include songs from both her CDs and cover songs. “Simon & Simon” have performed in the greater Los Angeles and Orange county for a number of years. Brenda’s personality and warmth draw the audience into each performance. An accomplished artist, Brenda released her art in the spring of 2000. Her watercolors and drawings reflect intense interests, which parallel her musical influences. Five of her pieces were painted for songs on the “The Genuine Thing”. She was commissioned for several portraits during the summer. One of her drawings was recently used as a book cover art for author Charles Haller. |

“ ‘Give A Little’ and ‘Shine Down’ - kinda like a reggae sort of ‘Smooth’ thing. ‘Genuine Thing’...your voice is especially haunting on this one - you sound terrific!!” —Gary C. “Far and away the best you’ve done so far. The picture on the back is perfect, too.” —Russell L. “The music is haunting—mysterious, beautiful but most of all soul satisfying.” —Rena T. "From the cool New York Jazz feel of 'Genuine Thing', 'Simplicity' & 'Shine Down' to the international flavor of 'Waiting On Love'...this album has it all." — John F. |
